Senior WMS Consultant

Overview

The WMS Consultant is responsible for successfully leading WMS selection and implementation engagements for Commonwealth Supply Chain Advisors’ clients. This position will be the primary strategy and implementation lead, and assist with delivery of all phases of the WMS engagement. With an in-depth understanding of the client’s business model and requirements, the WMS Consultant will play a lead role in the evaluation, selection, development and implementation of WMS solutions. He/she will assure that solutions developed provide a strong business case to support the client objectives.

 

This position requires the ability to confidently set and manage expectations for high profile projects at high profile clients. Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the client’s business and their unique challenges to growth or competitiveness
  • Establish broad and deep relationships with strategic client roles who have authority, influence and responsibility for project goals in the client organization
  • Use deep client insight and expertise to lead the selection and implementation of solutions that help the client achieve their business goals
  • Help assure that project scope is managed and understood throughout the life of the engagement
  • Deliver work on-time and on-budget
  • Contribute to the achievement of company-wide revenue goals by pursuing follow-on projects with current and former clients

WMS

  • Provide strategic direction during the Current State Assessment, Solution Design and Future State Flows project phases
  • Provide final approval validating that the WMS design and configuration supports the client’s fulfillment business requirements; to include operational performance, volume-capacity, and customer service requirements
  • Approve functional designs & ensure the software will conform to specifications
  • Provide approval of the proposed Solution Summary Deliverables, Proof of Concept Acceptance scripts and draft Data Conversion Plan
  • Work with Program Manager to assign operational and local IT resources and estimate project deliverables timing, monitor team timelines set in the Integrated Project Plan to ensure on-time delivery
  • Support Engineering and Slotting Redesign projects, if required
  • Assist in managing the execution of Dry-Run & Go-Live activities and validate that adequate support is available to Operations following Go-Live
  • Identify high risk business-operational issues and potential project delays
  • Provide day-to-day leadership to Super Users, Engineers & other Team Leaders and provide Dry-Run and Go-Live Design Support
  • Write reports and deliver presentations to communicate project deliverables and milestones
  • Follow Commonwealth’s project delivery methodology and formats
  • Contribute continuous improvements and recommendations to the Commonwealth methodology and library of service capabilities

Internal Business Partnerships

  • Work closely with WMS Practice Lead to assure accurate scope and revenue in accordance with commercial agreements
  • Play a leadership role within engagement teams, working closely with executives, engineers, analysts, IT and finance resources to assure alignment between client and Commonwealth engagement team

Qualifications

Required

  • 10-15 years total distribution experience including demonstrated experience leading large-scale WMS selection and implementation projects for major retail and consumer brands
  • Extensive knowledge of distribution and fulfillment business objectives, operational performance requirements and customer service expectations
  • Understands the strategic features-functions of an advanced WMS
  • Expert knowledge of WMS implementation best practices
  • Experience leading WMS requirements and design workshops
  • Experience writing test scripts and performing quality control tests
  • Experience working as an outside consultant in supply chain/distribution
  • Good analytical skills and detail oriented, ability to understand, integrate and draw conclusions from multiple sources of qualitative and quantitative data
  • Executive level communications and presentation experience including the ability to be influential and persuasively articulate and present Commonwealth solutions to C-Level executives both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to connect and build rapport and relationships with internal and external clients at all levels
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering or Information Systems field
  • Proficient competency in MS Office Suite

Desired

  • Project management skills and experience
  • Knowledgeable in distribution center design, space and storage planning, and material handling equipment/automation
  • Familiar with WCS technologies
  • Distribution operations management experience managing warehouse personnel and operations

Geographic Location

  • Reasonably close to a regularly serviced commercial airport.

Travel Requirements

  • ~50% travel
