Ian Hobkirk, Founder & Managing Director

Commonwealth was born out of Mr. Hobkirk’s desire to provide companies with a broad and purely objective perspective on how to solve supply chain problems without automatically resorting to expensive technology and “what made the last project successful.” Over his 20-year career, he has helped hundreds of companies reduce their distribution labor costs, improve space utilization, and meet their customer service objectives. He has formed supply chain consulting organizations for two different systems integration firms, and managed the supply chain execution practice at The Aberdeen Group, a leading technology analyst firm. Mr. Hobkirk’s opinions are regularly featured in publications such as DC Velocity, Supply Chain Management ReviewModern Materials Handling, and The Journal of Commerce.

 Colman Roche, VP of Consulting

Mr. Roche is responsible for leading the growing distribution center design consulting team. Mr. Roche has 30 years of experience in leadership roles within warehousing automation and supply chain management companies. His strengths include multi-technology distribution center systems design and supply chain technology deployment with expertise that spans automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), carousels, robotics and supply chain execution software systems. In Addition, Mr. Roche has a proven track record of successfully guiding companies through the change management process associated with the implementation of automated systems and distribution channel overhauls. He has led supply chain transformation projects for clients worldwide across a wide variety of verticals.

 

Jennifer Thomas, Vice President of Business Development
Ms. Thomas oversees marketing, business development and talent acquisition. In this role, she merges supply chain expertise with a drive to help clients. She thrives on providing the supply chain community with resources and tools to help them continuously improve. Ms. Thomas brings to Commonwealth 16 years of experience building business development programs in supply chain consulting and engineering.
