The core mission of the director of business development is to:


  • Increase company revenue through new customer acquisition (business development)
  • Ensure the company has the right people on staff to execute the business (recruiting)

The director of business development is expected to make cold calls in addition to following up on leads from trade shows, inbound calls, web forms, referrals and other sources. Customer contact is mainly via phone and email. The director of business development will also execute marketing functions to support business development efforts, including but not limited to, website updates, SEO, presentation updates, consultant bio development, email marketing campaigns, inbound marketing efforts, the blog, campaigns with partners, speaking engagement identification & coordination and trade show management.


The director of business development is expected to identify recruiting candidates for all company positions which include, but are not limited to, WMS consultant, DC Design Consultant, Business Development and Administration. This involves networking, cold calls to potential candidates and marketing the positions on job boards, etc. The director of business development will be responsible for identifying candidates, pre-screening them, selling them on the organization, and managing the end-to-end process of multiple interviews associated with the Top Grading Methodology.


The director of business development will support the sales process with contract review (NDAs, proposal agreements), RFP support work, proposal finalization, sales meeting scheduling, calls to clients to arrange logistical details, coordination with administrative resources on trip planning and meeting scheduling, ensuring background information for sales meetings is on the calendar, etc.
